Well gee, what can one say about one's self? I was born in Walnut Creek Ca, on August 10, 1976 (send lots of presents:). I have two older sisters, and an older brother. Yes Virginia, I'm the baby. I grew up in a town called Livermore, which is a fairly small town; population about 86,000, located in the Bay Area about an hour south east of San Francisco. Perhaps Livermore is best known for the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and for the local wineries. Of course there is also another Laboratory right across the street from LLNL, this lab is the Sandia National Laboratory. I worked at this lab, for four summers and learned a bunch from some really smart people. Even though Livermore probably has a nuclear missile or two trained on it because of all the weapons research the two labs do, it's still a great town.

Well let's move on to me. I am about 5'3", 190 lbs. and Chinese. I am fairly athletic, having good coordination, but I don't really excel at just one sport, I'm more of a jack of all trades, master of none. I do have quite a bit of different interests, my tastes vary. I really enjoy mountain biking and basketball, but I do numerous other sports. I don't really listen to much modern music, but that doesn't mean I won't listen to it. Most of the time I listen to oldies, fifties, sixties, and seventies stuff. I am a big Elvis fan. I'm a bit of geek, I enjoy sci-fi (no conventions yet (does Blizzcon count?), even though I do have an autographed picture of Amanda Tapping on my bookshelf :), and I have been known to play some games here and there. I also love to travel, and try to take a big trip once or twice a year. I have dabbled in lots of other fields as well. I played the trumpet for 4 years and the piano for 5, and I also have my black belt in karate. I have flown planes, written poetry, climbed Half Dome, and backpacked in Alaska.

I am an alumni of the University of California at Davis. Small town, small school. Being in college was great, I loved the experience and meeting new people. Surprising to most, I actually came away with a couple of degrees for all my, ahem, hard work. I have a B.A. in Political Science and a B.A. in Nature and Culture. Ahhhhhh, college, someday someone might convince me to go back . . . (Ha! Who am I kidding, I'll never go back! :)

So now what have I done with all that Political Science and Nature and Culture knowledge? I did what everyone else who graduated in 1999 with a liberal arts degree did, I got a job in the tech sector and moved down to the valley :) After 4 years at webmethods (Now Software AG!) I decided to leave and start a new challenge at a small private company, CastIron Systems. It was fun to work on a team of 2 trying to untangle a web of systems that were implemented before any of us got there and try to organize and implement improvements. There was a lot of variation (facilities, reception duties, social chair, etc.) and scrambling, but it was pretty damn fun. After 5 years of that, Cast Iron was aquired by IBM, and I've been here in various roles since then. Currently I manage a World Wide DevOps team of 20 that develops for and operates over 60 public and dedicated clouds.

Of course, I'm always open to new experiences and opportunities (i.e. salary increase, always the mercenary :), so take a look at my (horribly out of date) resume and see if anything that I can do strikes your fancy.
